As a search administrator (SPO Search Center), I want to import a list of best bets (ca. 150 items) from a CSV file into new query rules in the Search Center, so that I don't have to manually create a query rule for each item. This is especially important since I first test the best bets in a QA Search Center before I add them to the production site.
Using export/import search configuration is not an option, since it contains other search settings that we do not want to import at the same time.3 votes
We have a list with a "Multiple Choices" column called "Location".
Thus there are list entries with location values like "Berlin, Gray Court".
The item gets indexed in the following style: "Berlin;#Gray Court;#
Unfortunately the search does not return those results when querying for "Berlin".
Only the query "Berlin*" does return all desired results.
Would be nice to see the lingusitic features (word braking) working in such cases!21 votes
The need to identify pages/files that contain specific hyperlinks is incredibly useful for maintaining content stored across multiple sources. For example, our business users would like to know how many internal sites/files might be linking to content that will moved, retired or changed. SharePoint 2010 provided this feature, but this cannot be configured in 2013.
Our company was able to configure this in SharePoint 2010 search by creating a Managed Property called "link" that was assigned to the "A.HREF" Crawled Properly. Users could then search using the syntax "link:http://ourintranet.com/documents/annualreport.pdf" Please give us this capability back!20 votes
It would be very beneficial, to be able to use word extraction in SharePoint Online, i.e. be able to supply your own custom dictionary, used to extract certain words from search for use in e.g. refiners.5 votes

The spreadsheet generated from the usage report link under Popularity Trends generates incorrect statistics for unique users in the section that is aggregated for monthly statistics. The spreadsheet appears to sum up the unique users for each day in the month, rather than calculating the unique users across the entire month. This will tend to greatly exaggerate the unique users per month.6 votes
For SharePoint on-prem environments we can add exclusion rules to the search import to exclude disabled accounts. This is a business rule that we not immediately delete accounts, for example that may have legal hold, but this accounts are filtered out from the import so that they do not show up in search results.
SharePoint Online does not currently allow us to add this business rule to the tenant so staff are searching and finding managers that are no longer with the company and this creates the impression that the data is untrustworthy.5 votes
Search driven applications would be much more powerfull if it is possible to use (properties of) search results to run a new query.
- I have a list where all my favorit project rooms are listed
- I want to offer a search only within my favorit Project site (collections)
To do so, the search query needs to pick up my favorit projects from the list and then run a query only against those project sites.
This would allow a lot of "zero-code" search applications within the o365 Standard.3 votes
give the possibility by default to search result for suffix matching.
For example to receive result for "SharePoint" i could write "Share"
or "Point" and automatically the search will consider the search key as "Share" or "Point".34 votesthinking about it · AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
Thank you for your feedback! We don’t support prefix search. There are upsides and downsides with doing suffix search by default. It’s a question of what’s best for most people. We’re taking your feedback into consideration.
On the search results page, add 'show properties' link under each result by default.33 votes
I would like to be able to configure only Trusted Identity provider on a default zone and still be able to crawl it.
i know that right now im able to crawl non-deafult zone and then create server site mappings, but this causing a lot o disadvantages.
There is also possibility to crawl default zone and extend Web application to provide SAML logon, but then there are also problems like Deafult-zone url's in e-mails, problem with showing feeds on mysites etc...
Maybe a different solution would be to have search dedicated zone, that would act exactly as crawling default one?23 votes
Integrate Yammer search results with SharePoint Online search results. Or allow federation of results.18 votes
According to microsoft the latency in the search index can be anything from 15 minute to 6 hours. This is not viable for building solutions that rely heavily on search. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/200844970 votes
Office web apps offers great added value for end users within SharePoint 2013, but still misses the ability to preview .msg files. Not in all cases the alternative of site mailboxes eg in our case we have about 200K site collections which all contain quite some .msg files.
The ability to preview these messages from eg within search compared with opening each mail would enhance our end user experience significantly.42 votes
When using the wildcard (*) on Modern PeopleSearch results the mouse cursor is not changed to a vingerpointer when hoovering over the name or picture of a user. The item is clickable but the because the mouse cursor does not change it is confusing for users. Please update the result page so that the mouse cursor is changed.9 votes
The ability to search across multiple Office 365 Multi-Geo locations would made searching for 'that SharePoint site' so much easier.1 vote
Query logs should be actionable. When reviewing a query log for search terms that result in 0 hits, we need should have the ability to add a synonym to fix the 0 result.
E.g. assume that the zero hits query log is sorted by frequency. And at the top you have:
monthly report power point
As an admin I should have the possibility to add a synonym here. To map power point -> powerpoint, ppt ,pptx, presentation, ...2 votes
In SPO, you allow only small amounts of items to be seen in a search.
I need to be able to see more than 100 or move in 20s during searches.
We need options for like 500, 1000, or 2000 for datasets. I have a powerful machine and I need to be more productive.
Here's an example. US Treasury uses SP but look at how painful it is to use the tools, https://www.treasury.gov/initiatives/financial-stability/reports/Pages/reports.aspx2 votes
