  1. Allow import of best bets from CSV file to query rules

As a search administrator (SPO Search Center), I want to import a list of best bets (ca. 150 items) from a CSV file into new query rules in the Search Center, so that I don't have to manually create a query rule for each item. This is especially important since I first test the best bets in a QA Search Center before I add them to the production site.

Using export/import search configuration is not an option, since it contains other search settings that we do not want to import at the same time.

  2. All columns on a list should be searchable

All columns on a list should be searchable without having to manually configured Managed/Crawled properties in Central Administration with the option of removing the column from the index as is the current behavior. In particular, the list searchbox that is available on the list view itself should be able to return data from the list without having to make a column a Site Column.

  3. Enable search results as OData stream that is readable by Excel/PowerBI

Especially when having content of a certain type spread over multiple webs and sites, search provides a good way to aggregate this information, e.g. get all risks tracked in all project sites. It would be great if these results could be exposed as Odata stream to be directly integrated in the reporting tool of your choice.

  4. Default contextual scoping till current library/list level rather than current site

I would like either ability to have automatic contextual scoping till library/list level in sharepoint main search or search within list/library should sort results based on search relevance not sorted based on name. By sorting search results based on name within library search it doesnt make sense because relevant document is displayed at the very bottom if its name dies start from initial alphabet letters (a,b,c, ..)

  5. More frequent refresh / sync or manual refresh / sync option for content search query web part

In Office 365 SharePoint Online we currently use a content search query web part to display specific SharePoint sites in a list to certain users depending on the permissions they have on specific sites.

We have had confirmation from Microsoft that the refresh job runs every 24 hours, however sometimes it can be a shorter length of time.

As we reply quite heavily on this function, it would be brilliant if we can change the schedule / time of when the refresh runs (more frequent) or manually run it if required.

    Thank you for your help.

  6. Administrator shoud be albe to adjust / customize word-breaking in Japanese search scenario in SPO

Currently in the SharePoint Online (SPO) tenant, customising feature for word-breaking dictionary is not offered.
This is one of the painpoints for tenant administrators because amount of the data in the tenant is growing up day by day.

Actually the customization feature for word-braking is offered in SharePoint Server (On premise) but it shold also be offered to the users who are using SPO.

  7. Find Office 365 Groups in Search

Find relevant Office 365 Groups in the search. Now that the SharePoint homepage has been updated it is almost impossible to find some Groups to follow. (Also, the follow feature does not seem to be working.)

  8. SharePoint Home activity page - show libraries as separate cards

Current behaviour lists activity within libraries under the main tenant card. If all libraries are attached to tenant site and not sub-sites, then all activity within all libraries constrained to 3 lines of text.

  9. First word after a bullet point in a multiline text field is not indexed

The first word after a bullet point in a multiline text field is not being indexed. If a space is added before the first word, the word is being indexed. Microsoft support suggested we inform our users to add this space. A better solution would be for the indexer to handle this scenario.

  10. Managed Prop Mapping Type Check

We had a People type mapping in OOB AccountName MP. We added another string crawled property mapping to AccountName.

We discovered that, this caused miss the Update of current list item in next Continious Crawl cycle. When a new item added, crawl finds and ports to index, but in an update event, crawl does not fetch this update.

When we removed the mapping menitoned above, the issue disappeared and crawl worked without problem.

So came to a point that, having a type check for an MP-CP mapping can be a good idea to be assured of the integrity of the…

  11. Search from Cortana

I want to search files in SharePoint by Cortana.
Like Cortana can search files in My PC and from Bing.

  12. Content Type and Site Column Naming

Naming of Content Types and Site Columns should not be Unique.
As both content types and site columns are identified uniquely by CT Id and internal field name, it should be possible to give a display name for content type or site column, even if the display name is already in use.
This way we can avoid al sorts of strangely named content types or fields, because of the current limitation, and still be able to use the different columns in the search schema

  13. Sort search results by most relevantat library level

Currently, searching within a document library does not sort results so that the most relevant is at the top of the results list. We would like to see the most relevant (i.e. most occurring in document and metadata, or at least most results found in metadata) at the top of the results list.

  15. Fix the Manage Query Rules Page

In SPO, Search Admin, deactivating a Query Rule does not update the Modified Date. Any type of configuration change should be indicated by a revised date.

  16. Fix eDiscovery for MicroFeed data

When doing eDiscovery the result for MicroFeed data suffers a few flaws:
    - when a query returns a post, the preview for a post is useless for the human reader (the Display-Form of the MicroFeed-list is not equipped for that use)
    - when someone puts a hold on a post, he can't preserver the rest of the thread (formulating the extended query needed not possible, as the data model for the MicroFeed-List is not documented)
    - when exporting, the export is returned as CSV like for any other list; but as data model of teh Microfeed list is not documented,…

  17. Use static URLs to folders, regardless renaming the folder

At the moment if you change the name of a folder any URL you have shared with a colleague breaks - as the URL is make up of explicit folder names. Instead we should use ids in the URL (like you already do for documents/files), which stay the same regardless of re-naming. This would also mean that if a user MOVES a folder we can still link to it.
Rather than: .../Shared Documents/My First Folder/My Second Folder/My Third Folder
We would expect to see something like: .../12345
This ID would exist within a tree, and would therefore not need all…

  18. Suppress individual files from search results at SharePoint Online

We'd like to exclude individual files from Search results at Tenant Administration level with a minimum impact and without having to modify the default result source on each and every site collection. Something similar to the existing “Remove Search Results” option at SharePoint Admin Center, but in a more permanent way (instead of only until next crawl, as currently possible). A custom or modified result source could also be a possible solution if could be fully configured and enforced at the tenant level (site collection admins shouldn’t be able to override it).

  19. In SharePoint Online, the search does not trim spaces at the end of search string for custom templates, resulting into "We dint find..".

If I am creating a list from custom template and the name of template is "Project", but while searching for template I type "Project ", it says "Not Found". I think that, those extra spaces in search string for custom templates, at the end, should be trimmed, resulting into robust search.

  20. Allow Exclusion Rules for search import to exclude disabled accounts

For SharePoint on-prem environments we can add exclusion rules to the search import to exclude disabled accounts. This is a business rule that we not immediately delete accounts, for example that may have legal hold, but this accounts are filtered out from the import so that they do not show up in search results.
SharePoint Online does not currently allow us to add this business rule to the tenant so staff are searching and finding managers that are no longer with the company and this creates the impression that the data is untrustworthy.
