  1. I want to exclude a specific user from the search target in "user search" of SharePoint Online

    I would like to create a new account for new hires to join, but I would like to prohibit searching for pre-joining users in order to manage confidential information.

  2. Searching in file servers

    *English follows Japanese
    ■Title(件名):
    ファイル サーバーの検索について
    Searching in file servers

    ■Description(内容):
    MOSS 2007 と同様に、SharePoint Online でも検索範囲に ファイル サーバーを含めるように機能拡張を要望します。
    MOSS 2007 から SharePoint Online への移行にあたり、これまで使用していた機能を継続して利用したいため。
    Even after performing migration from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Online, we want to continue using the features that we have used up to now, so we hope that SharePoint Online will include file servers inside its search boundaries just like MOSS 2007.

  3. Please implement a function that can search by excluding or specifying a specific column in the list column

    *English follows Japanese
    ■Title(件名):
    リスト列を特定の列を除外または指定して検索を行える機能の実装を希望します。
    Please implement a function that can search by excluding or specifying a specific column in the list column

    ■Description(内容):
    現時点では、リスト内検索をするとすべての列及び添付ファイル内の文字も対象に検索となり期待した結果とならない。
    そのため、任意で検索の対象とする列を除外または指定して検索結果を表示させる機能の実装を希望します。
    Currently, all rows, columns, and words inside attached files are search targets when searching within a list and thus we do not get our desired results.
    Therefore, we hope that a feature to display search results by specifying or excluding the desired rows/columns to be searched will be implemented.

  4. SharePoint Online search results page display feature

    *English follows Japanese

    ■Title(件名):
    SharePoint Online 検索結果のページの表示について
    SharePoint Online search results page display feature

    ■Description(内容):
    SharePoint Online サイト内の検索ボックスより、検索結果を表示すると、下部のページの選択が 1 ページは 2 ページ目までの選択しかできず、それより先のページに遷移するまで手順を踏まないといけない。検索結果 1 ページ 目より最終ページや、任意のページまですぐ遷移できるよう機能を変更して欲しい。
    When displaying search results in SharePoint Online site search box, only the first 2 pages can be chosen, and if we want to view any other pages there are more steps that must be taken. Please change the search feature so that search results from the first to the last page are displayed, and a way to navigate to a desired page number.

  5. Display the name of the site you are searching within

    When searching within a site sometimes people get confused by the verbiage "Search this site" and make the improper assumption that it is searching against everything. A simple and subtle change that could reduce confusion is if you include the name of the site in the search box. For example, "Search within the <Site Name> site".

  6. Search function in Recycle Bin

    Currently you cannot search for any files in the recycle bin. It is incredibly frustrating. Especially when a large number of files have been deleted and you need to find a specific file to restore. Any other file storing system generally has this feature.

  7. Change or add new automatically created search managed properties to have the same type as site columns

    Automatically created managed properties in SharePoint Online (and on-prem) are created from their corresponding site columns always as text (details at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/technical-reference/automatically-created-managed-properties-in-sharepoint). Basically, these managed properties are being created as textual representations of the values of their corresponding site columns. The problem with these approach is that we can only make free search queries with these managed properties even if the corresponding site column is of type Date or Decimal for example. With this approach, more intelligent queries according to the site column data type as range queries cannot be performed. Here are some examples of queries cannot be…

  8. Regarding the search results sort order for lists in Sharepoint app

    *English follows Japanese

    ■Title(件名):
    SharePoint アプリでのリストの検索結果の並び順について
    Regarding the search results sort order for lists in Sharepoint app

    ■Description(内容):
    リストで検索した場合、PC やモバイル端末のブラウザーでは、[リストの設定] から既定のビューの編集画面で [並べ替え] で指定した並び順にもとづいて検索結果が表示される。
    しかしながら、SharePoint アプリの場合、検索結果に該当するアイテムが、初期の設定である ID 順で表示される動作となる。
    この点について、PC などと表示順が異なるとアイテムの確認に手間がかかるため、PC などの動作と同様に、指定した並び順にもとづいて検索結果を表示させることができるようにしてほしい。
    When searching using a list, the search results are shown accordingly to what has been set in the Sort option in the List Settings for browsers on the PC and mobile devices.
    However for the Sharepoint app, search results are shown according to the default setting, which is ID.
    This ends up in using up time to check what results have been returned as the order is different from what…

  9. Support for search via synonyms for a particular term in Modern Search.

    For eg If i have managed metadata column called Keywords, which has a term called Research, which has following synonyms study,investigate,examination.

    Now when i search Keywords:Research everything works fine.
    But modern search should also support this Keywords:Study

  10. Bug: Searching Library that has Default View with Collapsed Groups

    If the default (modern) view of a library has Group By columns and the groupings are collapsed by default:
    Search results are also collapsed. If you try to expand a group in the search results, the following error scenarios occur:
    * Nothing happens: the group tries to expand ("loading" message), but then remains collapsed. If you try to expand the group again, an error occurs.
    * The group expands, but if you try to adjust the width of a column, the group collapses. If you try to expand the group again, an error occurs.
    * The group expands, but if…

  11. Sticky column headings when searching a list

    When we view a list then scroll down the page, the column headings remain visible at the top of the page - this is really helpful. However, when you search a list and get rows returned, the column headings do not remain visible.

  12. Search Page Content

    Please allow for search to look at Page Content and bring back a page as a result - if I have a site page called "Marketing" that contains a text web part with Heading level text (OR a Web Part title, Quick Link title, etc.), "Brand Guidelines", I want to be able to search for "Brand Guidelines" and get the "Marketing" PAGE back as a search result

  13. Filtering Flaw

    A filtering flaw was recently discovered within SharePoint when using the ‘filter button’ on the right hand side while working within a specific view. If this filter is engaged and the ‘see all’ link is selected, the view ID disappears from the link. If this link is then sent to or shared with another user, they won’t be directed to the correct view.

    Can you release an update to SharePoint Online to resolve this flaw?

  14. It should be correct results when you search for the title

    There has a lot of issues when we search for files.
    Microsoft has some actions when search crawlers work.
    However, it is a common habit when you search for files with title keywords.
    It doesn't mean you need to depart some words or directories on the title.
    All we want to have is using some words containing on the title to search for files.
    It should be like the following scenario.
    title "abcdefg123"
    search a --> works!
    search b --> works!
    search fg123 --> works!

    This is more user-friendly. I hope it could be modified in the future.

  15. SharePoint items are marked as accessed when displayed via search

    We use the SharePoint search to display news from various team sites. Sadly this leads to all items which are displayed being marked as 'accessed' by the various users.
    This is very confusing to our users as they have not actually accessed the content, but only the preview. Especially as this information is surfaced on the SharePoint Home page (_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx).

    The Microsoft support claims this is as designed. Though this concept is different from most of the search behaviour out there. Please change this.

  17. The sharePoint search date filters do nothing.

    When selecting the Filter option when searching from your main office.com home page you are presented with multiple options for filtering by date modified. These filters do not change the presented data at this time. This needs to actually update the displayed results if it is going to be included on the page.

  18. Accessing storage location for items displayed in library search results

    *English follows Japanese
    ■Title(件名):
    ライブラリ内検索で、結果として表示されるアイテムの格納場所について
    Accessing storage location for items displayed in library search results

    ■Description(内容):
    現在、ライブラリ内検索でアイテムを検索時、検索結果から該当アイテムの格納場所にアクセスする手段がない。
    ライブラリ内に多数のフォルダーを配置している場合、アイテム結果だけでは格納場所を確認するのに手間がかかる。
    ライブラリ内の検索結果から該当アイテムの格納場所に、簡単にアクセスきる機能の追加を希望します。
    Currently there is no way to access a particular item's storage location from the search results when searching for items in the library.
    If there are lots of folders in the library, lots of time is needed just for checking the storage location of the item.
    Thus we hope a feature to enable easy access to a particular item's storage location from library search results will be implemented.

  19. "Name" Column visible in Library settings

    Currently there is no way to have the "Name" column visible in library settings. It would be nice if we can do changes and add the "Name" column in sharepoint library settings to have easy access.

  20. search scheme api

    I have some apps that reqire updates to the search scheme at either the tenant or site-collection level. When deploying these apps the updates to the search scheme must be done manually in an archaic UI.

    Please provide an API so i can update the tenant or site-collection search schema programatically.
