When we view a list then scroll down the page, the column headings remain visible at the top of the page - this is really helpful. However, when you search a list and get rows returned, the column headings do not remain visible.1 vote
A filtering flaw was recently discovered within SharePoint when using the ‘filter button’ on the right hand side while working within a specific view. If this filter is engaged and the ‘see all’ link is selected, the view ID disappears from the link. If this link is then sent to or shared with another user, they won’t be directed to the correct view.
Can you release an update to SharePoint Online to resolve this flaw?13 votes
There has a lot of issues when we search for files.
Microsoft has some actions when search crawlers work.
However, it is a common habit when you search for files with title keywords.
It doesn't mean you need to depart some words or directories on the title.
All we want to have is using some words containing on the title to search for files.
It should be like the following scenario.
search a --> works!
search b --> works!
search fg123 --> works!
This is more user-friendly. I hope it could be modified in the future.1 vote
We use the SharePoint search to display news from various team sites. Sadly this leads to all items which are displayed being marked as 'accessed' by the various users.
This is very confusing to our users as they have not actually accessed the content, but only the preview. Especially as this information is surfaced on the SharePoint Home page (_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx).
The Microsoft support claims this is as designed. Though this concept is different from most of the search behaviour out there. Please change this.1 vote
SharePoint search currently does not re-crawl content when a like (LikeCount) or comment/reply (CommentCount) is added to a modern page. This means that when many people comment on a page, the search API will not show the updated number -- even after weeks, unless the page is republished or the site is manually re-crawled.
SharePoint search should likely flag the page as dirty for the crawler to re-crawl the updated values so we can leverage these in SharePoint search results.4 votes
When selecting the Filter option when searching from your main office.com home page you are presented with multiple options for filtering by date modified. These filters do not change the presented data at this time. This needs to actually update the displayed results if it is going to be included on the page.1 vote

Accessing storage location for items displayed in library search results
Currently there is no way to access a particular item's storage location from the search results when searching for items in the library.
If there are lots of folders in the library, lots of time is needed just for checking the storage location of the item.
Thus we hope a feature to enable easy access to a particular item's storage location from library search results will be implemented.1 vote
Currently there is no way to have the "Name" column visible in library settings. It would be nice if we can do changes and add the "Name" column in sharepoint library settings to have easy access.9 votes
I have some apps that reqire updates to the search scheme at either the tenant or site-collection level. When deploying these apps the updates to the search scheme must be done manually in an archaic UI.
Please provide an API so i can update the tenant or site-collection search schema programatically.3 votes
If you deploy a SPFx application extension to a site for a header/footer, this shows on most pages, but not on the search page.
Would be nice if custom headers/footers showed on the site search page as well.63 votes

When searching for files and the result is an image, it doesn't open the .jpg files when clicking on them.
It does open .png and .jpeg files as images, but not .jpg (this is the default extension for jpeg images).
It makes our work more difficult, sice we already have many images with the .jpg extension and we just found out that the search is useless.12 votes
Improve the accuracy of search in Chinese or allow administrator to adjust / customize word-breaking in Chinese search scenario in SOP
In SharePoint O365, the search engine 's Performance is not always satisfactory,especially in Chinese. Sometimes, the search result does not match the search criteria. This issue was analyzed by MS SPO Support team and the root cause should be the incompleted word-breaking.
User expected a better search engine in Chinese Search so that the expected result could be find out directly.
As an alternative, user also expected that the customising feature for word-breaking dictionary could be offerred in SPO.26 votes
For the Communication 'modern' Site there should be a WebPart that links to Azure Active Directory so users can do an employee search.
For the Communication 'modern' Site there should be a WebPart that links to Azure Active Directory so users can do an employee search from the homepage of the organization's SharePoint Intranet site. Apparently this only works for the classic site and has not been implemented in the modern Communication Site.2 votes
We have SharePoint Online and would like to measure our search using some statistics. Can you guys introduce some statistics which can be used to measure search performamce in particular site collection. The usage reports and popularity trends are indeed good for item level but if we want to measure for entire site then there we don't have anything. It would be really helpful if you guys can introduce a site level search health report or a report that would guide us in right direction for having a search with much more hits and relevant data1 vote
Our organization has numerous Excel files that are larger than the 3 Mb. search index boundary. It would be ideal to increase the boundary to match that of other office files, or make it settable to higher values.
This would allow for more accurate key word searches of Excel files.1 vote
SharePoint Multi-line Append only comments column incorrect date format. Site settings :- Regional setting already set to English (Australia). Date column displays in d/mm/yyyy while appending comments displays date in m/d/yyyy format.5 votes
Enhance Search results. Display a count of hits for each search term (word) in the results. This would be invaluable for scientific and medical documents. Allow this feature to be enabled/disabled by the user.1 vote
Please display the number of search results retrieved in modern search. If you can display a count of pages, it is apparent that the total count is known (even if it is estimated). This would be helpful for people to determine if they would want to paginate and look for the desired result.2 votes
"Search for xyz in all content" link only shows up when there's no results. Users cannot expand their search to include all content if they can't find what they're looking for. The only workaround is to search for something that will return no results so the users can search all content. Users complain the search experience in SPO isn't as useful as earlier versions.2 votes
