  1. For the Communication 'modern' Site there should be a WebPart that links to Azure Active Directory so users can do an employee search.

For the Communication 'modern' Site there should be a WebPart that links to Azure Active Directory so users can do an employee search from the homepage of the organization's SharePoint Intranet site. Apparently this only works for the classic site and has not been implemented in the modern Communication Site.

  3. connect the modern search box on the page to pnp webpart search page

we have a requirement to use search refiners the way it used to work in classic search. pnp modern search webpart provides that option. There should be a way to link the search box on the top of the modern site to link to the pnp webpart page. Right now the way modern search box works, it does not allow to link the search or redirect search to pnp webpart page

  4. search scheme api

I have some apps that reqire updates to the search scheme at either the tenant or site-collection level. When deploying these apps the updates to the search scheme must be done manually in an archaic UI.

Please provide an API so i can update the tenant or site-collection search schema programatically.

  5. Search in browser on iphone needs improvement

Search on mobile browser on iphone - search box does not fit the screen - as you type results show in a teeny tiny strip and you have to side scroll to see the show all - If you type your query and hit done on the keyboard, search closes - does not produce list of results. When you search within a filtered document library as you are typing, results load on top of your search term so you no longer can see what you are typing.

Not everyone wants to load an app on their phone.

    Thank you!

  6. Searchbox on iPad/iPhone extends beyond screen

Modify the mobile browser search functionality on iPad and iPhones (Portrait mode) so the search text box does not extend beyond the right side of the screen

  7. Display the name of the site you are searching within

When searching within a site sometimes people get confused by the verbiage "Search this site" and make the improper assumption that it is searching against everything. A simple and subtle change that could reduce confusion is if you include the name of the site in the search box. For example, "Search within the <Site Name> site".

  8. Search Results Count

Please display the number of search results retrieved in modern search. If you can display a count of pages, it is apparent that the total count is known (even if it is estimated). This would be helpful for people to determine if they would want to paginate and look for the desired result.

Please add the ability to use Query Variables (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/SharePoint/technical-reference/query-variables) in SharePoint Online, including in Highlighted Content web parts using CAML and KQL.

  11. Make "Search in all content" available even if the search returns results

"Search for xyz in all content" link only shows up when there's no results. Users cannot expand their search to include all content if they can't find what they're looking for. The only workaround is to search for something that will return no results so the users can search all content. Users complain the search experience in SPO isn't as useful as earlier versions.

  13. End User custom Search Center experience that leverages a cross-site schema metadata filter

If possible, let end users choose from schema property names for the sites they're able to access. Something like the "Top 10" favorite indexable properties would make a lot of difference for users searching for content. In addition, it could condition users to value and adopt tagging their items with metadata, and make them more mindful about search and content management.

  15. Allow refinable managed properties to be stored in the People Full-text index (PeopleIdx)

Currently unable to change one of the pre-defined refinable managed properties to be stored in the People full-text Index (PeopleIdx).

This means that we're unable to refine people results (ContentClass=urn:content-class:SPSPeople) based on the values in the User Profile Properties reliably as the values are not stored in the index.

This is possible in SharePoint on-premises and it'd be great if SPO supported this as well.

  16. Search autosuggest and results page should display the documents' Title by default

The search autosuggest should display the documents' Title, if available. Currently, the (file) Name is displayed, which is not intuitive or legible. Displaying the document Title first is the normal pattern of all search engines.

  17. Using the "global" search box should perform a People Search regardless of current context

The search within SharePoint should perform people searches from the organization level at all times. Users should not have to go to the search results page and traverse up to the Organization level. The autosuggest on the site search used to display people results when we first vetted SharePoint as an Intranet solution--now it doesn't.

  18. Reveal/Use pdf metadata in sharepoint library

PDF has fill-in forms but the input data can't populate a fieldname in a sharepoint library as with a word document?

  19. SharePoint Search Results does not display OneNote Page

We’ve stored a lot of our team OneNote Notebooks on Modern Communication SharePoint site. The issue what we’re experiencing with SharePoint Search UX is that while searching for the content present within any OneNote from SharePoint, only the section name of OneNote gets displayed within the SharePoint Search results, instead of the actual OneNote page where the content resides. Thus, to get to the actual content, user needs to perform multiple searches:
    1. Search for content via SharePoint search page
    2. As the relevant information on content could be present across multiple Notebooks, lots of section names appear in search…

  20. OneDrive Search should ONLY include OneDrive results by default

PLEASE limit OneDrive Search results to only show OneDrive content when searching from OneDrive. There can be an option to expand search results further, but we want the default results to be the person's OneDrive that they are searching from.
