Has something changed in regards to Search Suggestions for SharePoint Online?
Recently we noticed our list of search suggestions are not appearing as individuals enter search terms, that normally trigger the search suggestions to appear, in our SharePoint online search query input boxes. Has something changed with Search suggestions?

Thank you for your feedback! Sorry to hear that the suggestions haven’t appeared for you, it sounds like there could have been an outage. Are you getting suggestions as expected now?

Classic Search - People Status indicators don't display in Chrome
In SPO we're employing Classic Search as we wait for refiners for modern search. We're including the People vertical. In Chrome the user status indicators do not work to show whether people are busy, free, away etc. This functionality is useful across the entire Microsoft ecosystem. Please fix!

Thank you for your feedback! Let me make sure I’ve understood completely. On the People vertical, for each person that’s a result you want to see the status indicator?

Open file location in modern search
Sharepoint search desperately needs the equivalents of Windows' "Open file location". It's fantastic that sharepoint search shows the path of files found in Sites, but sometimes I want to see the folder the file is in, not the file itself. Surely an easy thing to implement?
Thanks

This article, https://support.office.com/en-us/article/What-s-new-in-search-in-Office-365-b81ab573-ec9c-4aa9-a369-b3c630f878a7, gives an overview of the search user interface and points out where to click to go to the site or folder a file is in. If you click the site link, you’ll be taken to the folder that the file is in on that site.
Let us know if this doesn’t cover what you’d like to do, or if you have ideas for making the experience even better.

Need sorting and more filter options for searching for files in "all of sharepoint"
Need to be able to sort and refine search results. For example, sometimes what I'm looking for was recently modified and it's currently on page 5 of the search results. If I could optionally sort by last modified date then it would be on the first page. It would also be nice to be able to refine the search like to limit results with a date range or a specific folder structure.

Thanks for your feedback! Did you try setting the time filter to Past 24 hours or Past week? (If the filter pane isn’t open, click the Filters link, right under the search icon). We’re considering more date options, such as a date range.
When you write that you’d like to search within a specific folder structure, have you noticed that if we find matches to your query in several files that are located in the same folder, then we show the results grouped together “under” that folder (click to go to folder). Would that be of any help to the folder search you’re thinking of, or do you prefer to actively limit the scope of your search to only a folder? -

Please make it easier to find the correct user to contact / share data with.
Please make it easier to find the correct user to contact / share data with.
It has now become apparent that our users have trouble when sharing data and contacting other users. If they search for John Andersson, all they see is the name and the title, they have no way of knowing which John Andersson is the correct one, those users can be in any of the five municipalities, there can also, of course, be three John Andersson in one municipality, or in one department. This is for example the case, but not limited to, when sharing information in…13 votestell us more ·AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
We’d like to make sure we understood correctly. Is it correct that you’re thinking of when you’re in a dialog to pick the right person to connect with (or a dialog to share a file with a person)?

Modern pages do not display search results for list item entries!

Override auto-detection of language settings
Sharepoint indexing auto-detects the language of a file based on the available content. In case where indexable content is limited (eg DWG files) the results of defining the right language is very poor. To avoid wrong indexing (character sets, number detection) a feature to define override the language to use on file would be preferred.

Classic vs Modern data missing
Versioning turned on / Office 365 / Search for a specific folder.
In Classic, several folders displayed (different dates). Latest folder contains 10 unique files.
In Modern, only 1 folder is displayed and contains 4 files in total (all unique).Site and Libraries have been re-indexed.
How do I get complete / consistent classic / modern results?
Gary

Thanks for your feedback! Have I understood correctly, you searched for a folder by name and got several results for folders on the classic search results page, while when you used the search box on the SharePoint home page you got only one folder result on the search results page?

Provide same functionality as in Sharepoint 2007 to search on libraries on sites
We logged a call earlier this week regarding searches for users and were disappointed to discover there is less functionality in SharePoint online to the point where development/customisation is now required to allow searches on libraries?? Please can you consider putting this back in? If a user is searching a library for documents with specific context, they dont want to be presented with a list of over 500 documents from every library on their team site, especially if they are a technical author for a specific software development area.

Thanks for your feedback! I’m not sure I’ve understood completely. Your experience is that in SharePoint Online, when you search for content that’s in a library, you don’t get results? Or, is it that you’d like to scope your search to a particular library?

Redirect link for modern search in modern team sites to classic search center
Hello. Can you please add a redirect link to the modern team sites, as well as the classic team sites with modern page experience, that the users can also use the classic search center which is customizable to fit the users’ needs?
You have already added a redirect link to the classic search center within the document libraries when you search for something. But this link is not everywhere available in a modern team site.19 votestell us more ·AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded

The capable of searching contents of attachment in Custom List
We find out that sometimes the contents of files which has been attached to Custom List can be searched and sometimes cannot.
I want to know which one is correct in the specification of SharePoint Online, is the capable of searching correct or the incapable of searching correct.14 votestell us more ·AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
Thanks for your feedback! We understand that is can be confusing. Search in SharePoint has some documented limits that have to be considered when explaining the issues that you see.
First, the supported file types: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219530.aspx
Second, the limits of the parsed content of a file: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Search-limits-for-SharePoint-Online-7c06e9ed-98b6-4304-a900-14773a8fa32f
If the files you have in the Custom List exceed these limits, or are of a different filetype that what is supported, then the content is not searchable.
I hope this explains why you are not seeing search results from these files. If your files are within the limits and of the correct filetype, please give us more information, so we can consider if this is a bug or by design. -

Auto Classification of Documents During Indexing
Currently we have a large amount of file share and SharePoint data that contains Personally Identifiable Information and Sensitive Data. It would be ideal to be able to auto tag documents at the index level to filter out those documents in Search results. Additionally, it would also allow for tagging documents in a positive way, for more refined searching.
