Search should find site home pages!
I should be able to put metadata on pages in SharePoint and use search to find them via that metadata--always.
I want to create page directories for users by which I can configure the user experience to search and find the pages that I flag with a given property ("Germany" or "mobile" for example). However, Microsoft Support (Service request #SRX616021594549282ID) confirms to me that if a page is flagged as the home page of a site, it can no longer be searched and found via metadata.
This is astonishing--that a page disappears from search (via metadata) when a user flags it as the home page. This is a serious handicap to the oft-promoted concept of search-driven user experience.
to find both publishing pages and home pages add
((IsDocument:"True" AND FileExtension="aspx") OR (contentclass="STS_Web"))
i had the same problem. you can find your answer in this link http://www.projanco.com

We can search Site HomePage via contentclass:STS_Web or contentclass:STS_Site (Site Collection).
SharePoint use the Home Page for indexing the STS_Web (and STS_Site), so if you want to make filter/refinement with Taxonomy for Web or Site, just add Metadata columns to Home page.

I have authored a blog post providing the details behind this issue. See http://elevatepoint.com/sharepoint-search-not-finding-home-page/
