Modern document library search: no results due to filtered default view
I have found a "feature" that I feel needs to be addressed, so am turning to the community for support; basically within the modern interface, within a document library the search bar will allow the user to search all documents within the library.
This works brilliantly, except when there is a filter applied to the default view. The results are then filtered by the default view, and invariably little or no results are returned. You are unable at this stage to change the view, to display the expected results.
The only solution appears to be to click on the "Search Whole Organisation" hyperlink, however end users are unlikely to, as they would expect their search results to be displayed (resulting in a support ticket).
A workaround we have identified, would be to change your view to a custom unfiltered view prior to searching, however I feel this needs to be addressed with one of the following 3 options:
- Change the default text in the search box from 'Search this document library' to 'Search this document library view'
- Ability to change the applied view post search
- Search ignores any filters applied to views and shows all results based on the search criteria (my proffered option)
