We want to search without inputting property names when specifying multiple managed properties for search

We want to search without inputting property names when specifying multiple managed properties for search
■Description(内容):
When searching for items that correspond to specific managed properties, depending on the search query settings it may be possible to search without specifying managed property names, but if multiple search terms are inputted search cannot be performed if managed property names are not specified.
We hope this feature can be improved to enable searching of multiple search terms when managed property names are omitted.18 votes -

SharePoint Online search connector to Azure Data Lake
This idea is to create a SharePoint Online search connector to Azure Data Lake. This should be similar to the file share connector we have in hybrid search, but connect directly from the SharePoint Online search engine to Azure Data Lake. This will allow us to include files stored in Azure Data Lake in the enterprise search solution.

Can't view all search results in modern document library
I love the search in the modern document libraries, however there are some issues displaying results when the search is too broad.
If a user types a keyword search in the top left-hand corner, then clicks "see more results", they will often get the message "no items match your search" despite just seeing some results in short list below the search box.
The error should either be "there are too many results", or the results should be split into pages.16 votes -
Search autosuggest and results page should display the documents' Title by default
The search autosuggest should display the documents' Title, if available. Currently, the (file) Name is displayed, which is not intuitive or legible. Displaying the document Title first is the normal pattern of all search engines.

Using the "global" search box should perform a People Search regardless of current context
The search within SharePoint should perform people searches from the organization level at all times. Users should not have to go to the search results page and traverse up to the Organization level. The autosuggest on the site search used to display people results when we first vetted SharePoint as an Intranet solution--now it doesn't.

Provide an ability to default the search to "Hub" level on all associated site.
Currently in SPOnline, the search on the hub site works for both hub and its associated site. But inside an associated site, it is restricted only for that site. We need an ability to scope the search in all the associated site to its "hub" level. We found a way to elevate the search scope on all the site to tenant level. But for a client with global presence, not all intranet content to be shared globally. Some content are region specific. So they are looking for these options,
1. Elevate the associated site default search to its "Hub" level …14 votes -
Create a Search Score explain tool
Providing a tool that helps break down the search result score that an individual search result has received would help remove the mystery around SharePoint search. This could then be used to understand why results aren't returning in an expected order and tune metadata, settings, etc appropriately.

Increase hit highlighted summary length / make configurable
Currently, the HitHighlightedSummary value is shows hits from the first 10,000 characters of a document. When the hits are not included in the summary, it pulls a summary from a seemingly random part of the document.
This limit seems arbitrarily low. Many of our documents hit the limit after the first 5 pages, which often include a lot of boilerplate. It's caused a lot of confusion for our users and during usability testing, many expressed a lack of confidence in the search results ("why am I getting this result, is it broken?").
This limit should be increased, and preferably configurable…

Remove soft-deleted sites from Search Index
When you soft-delete an Office Group, the connected team site is not removed from search index. When you click on the search result, an HTTP 403 is presented.
The workaround from MS Support is to manually delete the site from the index. Also the site is still visible in "Recent Sites" and "Following" on SharePoint Home for every user. Workaround is that every user has to unfollow and wait until the site automatically removes from recent.
Both is not acceptable and looks like a bug for me.
Please remove soft-deleted sites from search index.14 votesworking on it ·AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded

The capable of searching contents of attachment in Custom List
We find out that sometimes the contents of files which has been attached to Custom List can be searched and sometimes cannot.
I want to know which one is correct in the specification of SharePoint Online, is the capable of searching correct or the incapable of searching correct.14 votestell us more ·AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
Thanks for your feedback! We understand that is can be confusing. Search in SharePoint has some documented limits that have to be considered when explaining the issues that you see.
First, the supported file types: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219530.aspx
Second, the limits of the parsed content of a file: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Search-limits-for-SharePoint-Online-7c06e9ed-98b6-4304-a900-14773a8fa32f
If the files you have in the Custom List exceed these limits, or are of a different filetype that what is supported, then the content is not searchable.
I hope this explains why you are not seeing search results from these files. If your files are within the limits and of the correct filetype, please give us more information, so we can consider if this is a bug or by design. -
Ability for case insensitive result set ordering in SharePoint Online
At this moment a result set of a search query is ordered case sensitive. It would be great if this became case insensitive or perhaps with the possibility to choose between the two options

Use static URLs to folders, regardless renaming the folder
At the moment if you change the name of a folder any URL you have shared with a colleague breaks - as the URL is make up of explicit folder names. Instead we should use ids in the URL (like you already do for documents/files), which stay the same regardless of re-naming. This would also mean that if a user MOVES a folder we can still link to it.
Rather than: .../Shared Documents/My First Folder/My Second Folder/My Third Folder
We would expect to see something like: .../12345
This ID would exist within a tree, and would therefore not need all…14 votes -
Filtering Flaw
A filtering flaw was recently discovered within SharePoint when using the ‘filter button’ on the right hand side while working within a specific view. If this filter is engaged and the ‘see all’ link is selected, the view ID disappears from the link. If this link is then sent to or shared with another user, they won’t be directed to the correct view.
Can you release an update to SharePoint Online to resolve this flaw?

Consider .jpg files as images in search (like .png and .jpeg)
When searching for files and the result is an image, it doesn't open the .jpg files when clicking on them.
It does open .png and .jpeg files as images, but not .jpg (this is the default extension for jpeg images).
It makes our work more difficult, sice we already have many images with the .jpg extension and we just found out that the search is useless.13 votes -
Support authentication for OpenSearch integration at SharePoint Online
We would like to extend SharePoint Online search result by implementing OpenSearch protocol. One thing is that it doesn't support authentication right now: https://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/201521/authentication-is-disabled-in-opensearch-result-source-on-sharepoint-online/213775. Since the data we are exposing are from customer on premises environment, authentication protection is required. Thanks.

Please make it easier to find the correct user to contact / share data with.
Please make it easier to find the correct user to contact / share data with.
It has now become apparent that our users have trouble when sharing data and contacting other users. If they search for John Andersson, all they see is the name and the title, they have no way of knowing which John Andersson is the correct one, those users can be in any of the five municipalities, there can also, of course, be three John Andersson in one municipality, or in one department. This is for example the case, but not limited to, when sharing information in…13 votestell us more ·AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
We’d like to make sure we understood correctly. Is it correct that you’re thinking of when you’re in a dialog to pick the right person to connect with (or a dialog to share a file with a person)?

Add the ability to search draft items and have it accurately security trimmed.
Currently draft items are not searchable in SharePoint 2013, I don't think this has changed in 2016 or online. If you have a library with half published items and half draft items, it would be very helpful to have the default behavior allow editors to search through draft items while readers only search production items.

Use Display Templates when rendering results on SharePoint Home
At the top of the SharePoint Home page (_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx) is a search box. The items shown as a result of using that search box do not respect any configured Display Templates.
