Improve the behavior that reloading the search result when opening a file after searching SharePoint Online library
I request not to reload the search result page when searching and sorting Office files, such as Word documents in the SharePoint Online library. Because if I click a file to open on Internet Explorer 11 in document mode 10 by using Windows 7 PCs, search page would be reloaded and results are disappeared.
For Windows 10 PCs, the page wouldn’t be reloaded if I selected Name (linked to document with edit menu) as Column name in Settings, Edit View. I would request the same behavior for using Windows 7 PC.3 votes

Thank you.3 votes
The setting "Always index all Web Parts on this site", is not yet exposed trough CSOM.
This setting can be found in site settings > Search and Offline Availability > Indexing ASPX Page Content
This is usefull when using sites with broken permissions, which are then not indexed as needed.
Please add this functionality to CSOM.
It is this property: web.ASPXPageIndexMode = WebASPXPageIndexMode.Always;3 votes
Currently Guest users are unable to use the search feature in MS Teams for files. For guest users the option to search "People" and "Messages" is available however the tab for searching "Files" is not. When Guest Users go to the SharePoint Teams site they are able to search all files within the document libraries with out issue. Its as if the "Files" tab in Teams search is missing for guest users. Really need to get this feature in place for Teams.3 votes
We often use svg files to render processes etc created from e.g. visio. Could you please add the .svg file type to the search file types so that one can perform searc queries on this file extension. Does not seem to work today?3 votes
Icons like ZIP or even MSG don't show up properly in Search Results. Could you please add them to the result templates ?3 votestell us more · AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
Thanks for your feedback! Are you seeing this in SharePoint Online or an on-premises SharePoint Server version?
Search results work in classic mode but not for modern pages!3 votestell us more · AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
In the time that has passed, search has evolved. Search should give results for list item entries, let us know if this still doesn’t work for you. Thank you for giving us feedback!

I use SharePoint Online. While PDF files are indexed, I can’t query on their metadata such as subject and keywords.3 votes
This is included for People Search but not on normal words.
For example if I searched for Canadien I want the ability to include Canadian within the results set. Without having the engine to learn these over a period of time with Did you mean results.3 votes
All columns on a list should be searchable without having to manually configured Managed/Crawled properties in Central Administration with the option of removing the column from the index as is the current behavior. In particular, the list searchbox that is available on the list view itself should be able to return data from the list without having to make a column a Site Column.3 votes
In Office 365 SharePoint Online we currently use a content search query web part to display specific SharePoint sites in a list to certain users depending on the permissions they have on specific sites.
We have had confirmation from Microsoft that the refresh job runs every 24 hours, however sometimes it can be a shorter length of time.
As we reply quite heavily on this function, it would be brilliant if we can change the schedule / time of when the refresh runs (more frequent) or manually run it if required.
Thank you for your help.3 votes
Now only possibility is to set root web as content source if you want to crawl HNSC.
It's very inconvenient if you have few big HNSCs and want to crawl them separately.3 votes
Currently you can only add indexed properties on Site, Web, List or Folder level - I suggest you to add the same on ListItem level.
If you want to enrich items with additional metadata you have to use list columns or content enrichment (not available with SPO or with hybrid cloud search service).
Another option would be to add "normal" columns to the items (and maybe hide them from editview) and rely on the normal indexing - for a large scenario this is simply not possible.
Indexing of the propertybag would greatly simplify this.3 votes
Search driven applications would be much more powerfull if it is possible to use (properties of) search results to run a new query.
- I have a list where all my favorit project rooms are listed
- I want to offer a search only within my favorit Project site (collections)
To do so, the search query needs to pick up my favorit projects from the list and then run a query only against those project sites.
This would allow a lot of "zero-code" search applications within the o365 Standard.3 votes
Enable possibility to have tree view [similar to one available in smart filter in library] in the search refinement panel in modern search result page esp on the managed metadata based columns2 votes
When searching in the document library, it does not display the most relevant results at the top of the list.
If searching for the document title, it appears lower down the list of documents, why is that? Surely if I search 'Security policy', for example, the document with that title should appear at the top of the search results.2 votes
We often need to know which folder a certain file or folder is in. Right now there is no way to get this except by opening the file/folder which is extremely time-consuming and counterproductive. Folders should optionally be displayed as an extra column, and always displayed as a tooltip over the filename.2 votes
