  1. Tools that simplify development for SharePoint Server taking into account new Microsoft recommendations

    It would be great to have Visual Studio integrated tools that simplify SharePoint development taking into account latest Microsoft recommendations in this area: avoid to use Features Framework and use the Remote Provisioning pattern when doing common task such as provision site collection and sites, extend existing site collections and sites, apply custom branding and so on

      Thanks for your feedback! Although we appreciate your time and effort to give us this feedback, it’s not something we’re planning to do right now as such. You can, however, find VS extensions available in the SharePoint GitHub organization, which are targeted to assist around this. We would absolutely welcome your input on these tools and to ensure that we are addressing possible gaps in them.

    • Save Site As Template With Publishing Enabled

      After enabling site publishing, the feature to save a site as a template appears to be gone. This was a convenient feature that should be retained if possible.

        Thanks for your feedback! Although we appreciate your time and effort to give us this feedback, it’s not something we’re planning to do right now. “Save site as a template” capability is absolutely a great capability, but also quite outdated and we are moving to more and more to “remote provisioning” patterns in SharePoint Online. Due the deep technical challenges of implementing this capability in SharePoint, we have decided not to move forward with an approach based on classic site templates.

      • Provide deeper examples and API Documentation on Display Templates

        The documentation for display template utilized by the new search web parts is very minimal and at best gives you a starting point. It requires painful debugging and examination of the JavaScript to see what key functions are doing to be able to do anything really more than just mapping a few additional managed properties to a template. These are functions like Srch.U.getTrimmedString(string,length).

        Also, when traversing blogs, there doesn't seem to be an agreed method for adding post render callbacks for display templates. I have seen both of the following:

        ctx.OnPostRender = []; ctx.OnPostRender.push(function(){...});

        and

        AddPostRenderCallback(ctx, function() {...});

        Better documentation…

          Thanks for your feedback! Although we appreciate your time and effort to give us this feedback, it’s not something we’re planning to do right now. We understand challenges in the documentation area and are working on providing sufficient documentation for the new capabilities. Since the search experience is rapidly evolving in the future to new areas, we won’t be using resources on this one at this stage.

        • Allow access to SP.UserProfiles.PeopleManager/GetPropertiesFor when using OAuth authorization

          This applies to SharePoint Online in Office 365. We'd like to move over to using OAuth in our app that integrates with Office 365, but there is one blocker we cannot get around. We need to fetch users' PersonalUrl, which works fine when using regular credentials/a fedAuth cookie. Calling the https://siteurl/_api/sp.userprofiles.peoplemanager/getpropertiesfor(@v)?@v='i:0#.f|membership|user@site.com'&$select=PersonalUrl,DisplayName endpoint when using a valid OAuth bearer token results in a 401 Unauthorized error. Since we're only testing OAuth at the moment I went ahead and enabled all permissions for my app in the Azure management portal, so that's not the issue.

            Thanks for your feedback! Although we appreciate your time and effort to give us this feedback, it’s not something we’re planning to do right now. We are looking into significant changes in the user profile area in the future, but not really enabling this capability as such over existing user profile service.

          • Allow installaton of multiple instances of an app for SharePoint to the same site

            Possibly by allowing the user to enter an app name upon granting permissions.

            This will allow users to grant read/write permissions against two or more lists on a site.

            This means, when designing apps they would be able to function more like OOB lists or libraries; with either extended functionality or be deployed in conjunction with a Client App Part to provide client functionality.

            An Example of this might be a "Rotating Image Gallery" app. Allowing multiple of these to be deployed to the same web is ideal, with independent permissions and content.

            • Keskiviikon ohjelmasta

              Olisiko mahdollista varata liikuntaa ja käsitöitä ym varten keskiviikon iltapäivästä esim aikaa yhtsuunnittelulle?

              • Provide support in on-premise Office online faster for new versions of the APIs

                The on-premise versions of Office Online server always massively lag behind the available features in O365. It would be helpful to cut this time lag from several years to several months to be able to use new features faster. Cloud solutions are not so popular in many customer segments in Europe.

                  Thanks for your feedback! Although we appreciate your time and effort to give us this feedback, it’s not something we’re planning to do right now. We do understand the feedback and are looking into this area in the future with potentially speeding up the process and model of getting new APIs to on-premises. Since this request is not, however, a specific product feature, it will be closed. Thanks for your input.
