Can't save a site as a template if publishing feature enabled
The publishing feature is a must-have for various reasons in many intranet classic structures. A project site can need to become a site Template witht such feature enabled, to handle pages, and css branding.
Without this, the time to duplicate a site structure can be strongly increased, which can become a real problem. For me it can become a crippling point.
This used to be possible : why this possibility has been removed ?

It's not available right from MOSS 2007. Backup/Restore or Export/Import PowerShell command can solve the problem for SPO. Wondering why these set of commands not implemented for SPO.

FYI: There is another request for this that currently has more votes. It may be worth consolidating votes around that request to give it more visibility.
While the "save site as a template" link has been removed, the feature still works if you append the following to your site path "_layouts/savetmpl.aspx "
So it doesn't make sense why Microsoft removed the link. Please bring it back!

I think they are allergic to money. This is a very basic feature that is missing, without it they are forcing me to recommend a different product to businesses I service. Most would be much better served with a wordpress or variant that has backup/restore features which can be controlled.
