Open Excel in Client
We have multiple excel documents stored in SharePoint that are not able to be opened in the browser due to Macros etc. Currently there is not way to share a link to the document directly without it trying to open in the client. Even with the library set to always open in the client no matter which way you share or generate a link it always sends a link to open in the browser.

This has been a frequent headache for us. When people use the Share option on an Excel document it includes the Web=1 option on the URL that is emailed out. This URL tries to open in browser even though many of our users don't have an Enterprise CAL and can't use Excel Web Access. Please fix!
I find the following link opens directly in the Excel client application: https://[company].sharepoint.com/sites/[sitename]/[libraryname]/Book.xlsx.
Note, I deleted the extension after the filename.
Library is set to open in the client app, not in the browser (Advanced Settings)
Library is in either Modern or Classic mode.
To open from the library into the Excel client by default, only Classic appears to respect the preference in Advanced Settings -- Modern ignores it.
