We know wikis are critical to sharing knowledge within your organization! We’ve been slowly building capabilities to share information more easily with our focus on modern pages and web parts. And with that work, we’ve been adding some of the capabilities we hear you want when people refer to wikis (easily add links to other pages or content, add metadata to each page to help people find and categorize it, roll-up content based on that metadata to show groupings of like content, etc.) But we know this isn’t all that’s required to have a great wiki. Many people also want wiki linking syntax e.g. [[]], we don’t yet support that, but we do support ctrl/command + K from the text web part to search and find pages on your site. We’ll be working on adding wiki syntax shortly. We know you also need easy roll-up pages, maybe an index page,…

Will project Cortex implement Wiki syntax and/or Tables of Contents?

Agreed. The Hero web part would be greatly enhanced by addition of the ability to rotate images. A typical intranet site should draw focus to news articles of which you typically have 6 at any one time. The hero web part draws you in and looks great but is static and will make a site look stale if not constantly updated.
The addition of rotating images would allow it to be used for news articles and will mean a user is drawn into the site - increasing user adoption.

A consolidated admin view of where published content types are being used is still being evaluated, but for folks voting for the related use case of “better creation and management of content types” please refer to site designs (aka.ms/spsitedesigns) as a modern mechanism to create/apply content types to site libraries. We are also looking at how this could be more easily supported from hub sites.

I would like to add my voice to this one. Currently when you create or modify a view on a document library or list, under the grouping section, it does not display content type as one of the available fields. It does allow grouping by just about either type of field.

The ability to group by content type is super useful and really drives adoption of content types and metadata based libraries. If you look at most folder structures created by end users (either on a file system or in a document management solution) they are very often based on folders for different types of document (Invoices, Contracts, Agendas etc). Users love organizing stuff like that!

The ability to group by content type allows us to replicate this hierarchy but in much more flexible way, alongside other types of views.

There is hack involving SharePoint designer and adding some custom XSLT which then displays the option, however when you return to the view settings page the group by content type option disappears. Come on Microsoft - this shouldn't be too difficult to fix - it used to be available in MOSS 2007! Bring it back please!
