I found that saving over the file creates a revision so when placing a revised document into my folder I have to ensure the names match perfectly and click replace existing document, this now achieves what I wanted.

I believe the UX design could be improved to provide a feature like described of Google's, this would certainly make it a little more intuitive.

Same, I just spent hours trying to find a way to upload new versions of documents and retain the links in OneDrive/SharePoint, 5 minutes in Google and I've got a solution. Down side is I've got everything else set up in OneDrive so now at a crossroad.

    What I want to achieve:
    - a product library available to staff working remotely through a phone app
    - the company website along with 3rd party sites referencing the exact same files (for document control purposes, I don't want to update multiple locations)
    - a way to replace/upload add new revisions of these documents as literature changes without loosing the link to the document from various places across the web

Uploading a new version like in Google would be an ideal fix.
