This article, https://support.office.com/en-us/article/What-s-new-in-search-in-Office-365-b81ab573-ec9c-4aa9-a369-b3c630f878a7, gives an overview of the search user interface and points out where to click to go to the site or folder a file is in. If you click the site link, you’ll be taken to the folder that the file is in on that site.

Let us know if this doesn’t cover what you’d like to do, or if you have ideas for making the experience even better.

I've read the above link and it doesn't appear to apply. Here is a search for PDF files within a Office 365 document library: https://i.imgur.com/TtIomJ7.png. Hovering over the results just shows the title of the document. None of the action items helps and even when you open the PDF in the browser, there is still no clue where it's filed. The details panel only shows the name. You can look at the Url but that's very mangled. Needs works!

We've already had to switch to Chrome because of this problem. Printing modern pages became mission critical and we simply couldn't wait for Edge to be able to do it. I doubt my client will switch back to the new Edge Chromium browser as there are still two mission critical features missing: sync of favourites on Azure Basic and multiple profiles (people). With many people having to logon to more than one Office 365 infrastructure at once, this is also a critical feature. Can't see it in the beta of the new Edge :-(

Well here we are a couple of months later and the BIG news in December is that Microsoft are dumping the Edge rendering engine. Maybe we'll now get a version of Edge that can print modern pages.... The Edge development team must have been in a sad place over Christmas.

I have a fix for you - use Chrome. It can print modern pages fine.

I despair sometimes at Edge. Microsoft controls the Windows 10, SharePoint and Edge platforms but they still can't get it to print modern pages :-( It's got better but still broken. I've had a ticket open for over a year on this one. Edge can now render the page correctly at least when printing except when I've just printed a three page Wiki article/modern page, it tries to print 17 pages of which the last 15 are blank.

Microsoft want us to take Edge seriously but the number of incompatibilities and lack of functionality compared to Chrome makes it *very* difficult to defend when one's clients insist we change the default to Chrome :-(

Amazing that you can't print modern pages!

What Troy points out is right - I can't believe the security in SharePoint sometimes. We have a real need on one document library (HR related) to prevent anyone, including the owners, from sharing links with everyone except those who already have access. It's a very basic requirement.

I'm not sure which team is responsible for the Excel/Access ODBC connector - could be Windows 10 team, could be Office team

I don't think this is an SharePoint document library issue as such as there are obviously functions available to allow Office to open documents from SharePoint. However, mail merge appears to use a Windows function to interface in with the data source - guessing maybe ODBC as that's used to interface databases with mail merge. So I'm guessing that it's the Excel/Access ODBC connector that can't handle HTTP based documents: https://i.imgur.com/jDp6MO7.png

I am totally and utterly flabbergasted that Word/Office cannot use mail merge when the source Excel document is stored in SharePoint. When I user asked me about this, I thought "Of course, it'll work" but when I try it, you a) can't browse SharePoint and b) if you have a network location mapped (WebDAV), you can't use that either.

Office 365 is Microsoft's cash cow these days but there are still so many features that don't work.

Come on Microsoft - you are in control of Office, Office 365 and the operating system. This is such a basic requirement.

Indeed - probably up there in the top 5 SharePoint document library gripes compared to working with File Explorer locally or on a traditional file server. We need that "Open with" functionality - PDFs are top of the list but opening graphics files in your favourite graphics editor is also in the mix.

Instead, my clients set-up huge numbers of network locations using the very flaky WebDAV technology. I've had to write them a complex script that sets up network locations for them...

The comment below about cancelling Office 365 resonates with me here. Many of my clients edit PDFs and it's the single common complaint is the lack of PDF integration. Why is this so hard?

Thanks for your feedback! Just a note to let you know that we’re building your suggestion now. We plan to increase availability to this feature as we continue improving the tech, and ensuring a smooth experience across Office 365 following the URL changes in SharePoint Online.

Does this "working on it" also apply to Office 365 group Urls? We can change the description, email but not the Url

There is an indicator whilst a file uploads: https://i.imgur.com/OJdXXwN.png

Would be nice if it was a little more animated so you know it's still working. It must upload in chunks as the progress jumps along.
