Thanks for the feedback! We are working on bringing better experiences (native and responsive) to the app. Are there specific areas you would prioritize first? Mostly lists and library?

We faced the same issue, so we decided to create a browser plugin that will help us in achieving this cleanly, see FlyView for SharePoint in the chrome store.
We decided to address this limitation by developing a SharePoint plugin, FlyView for SharePoint, http://fly-view.com, it reads the site structure at runtime and expands with your mouse pointer movements, add in Chrome or IE and it will work automatically.
