Hello any JSON whiz. I am open to your help and suggestion. This is just plain ugly and isn't needed.

I have many company functions and depts that don't need or want the GROUP social/chat, group email, conversation, Planner etc. aspect yet plan to use an SPO calendar and doc library.

Quick update on this suggestion. We are still working on this with MS Teams. We don’t have an ETA to share still.

Thank you for everyone who has been providing feedback on this thread. There is a variety of work happening to make it easier for people to save to/from OneDrive and SharePoint. There are no specifics and ETA’s to share at this point.

This works in Edge but not in IE, Chrome or Firefox. Can't speak for Safari since I do not use Apple products.

I'm confused. I just tested it. I CAN drag and drop an email attachment from an Outlook email into my OneDrive for Business document library and a SharePoint site document library using the desktop and online versions of Outlook. What am I missing?

Yes, I agree. When uploading a file, the Details Pane opens but there is no requirement for completing the required fields before it is 'saved' to the library. When creating a file from within the library, it is automatically checked out...which is good. However, it does not open the details pane to prompt the user to complete any required fields.
The document management abilities touted by MS and SP are completely negated if required data is left unfinished.
And, the true irony of it all is that in the Classic UI THIS FUNCTIONALITY WAS IN PLACE! A pop up window appeared showing the required fields and not allowing the user to complete the upload or checkin task without completing the fields. Why in the world would MS not maintain that functionality in the Modern UI is a true mystery to me.

And, I might add, in any of these scenarios, whether the checkin/out feature is enabled or not, a user can ignore the Details Pane, if it happens to display. If the required field is not within the visible area of the pane, the user has no real understanding of what the field is for or what to do. It simply looks like a redundant view of the info they already know about the file and they close it. Therefore, the required data is never added to the file....nor is a warning/explanation given...but the file is visible/editable to/by other users...who also neglect the required fields.
The document management abilities touted by MS and SP are completely negated if required data is left unfinished due to user oversight or lack of knowledge. Bottom line is that it doesn't get done and so there is no actual document management.

A pop up window appeared showing the required fields and do not allow the user to complete the upload or checkin task without completing the fields. We are continuing to validate this long-awaited feature in a Private Preview Program with a subset of customers. Although feedback has been very positive we have identified a few things that we still need to address before we start making this more generally available. We appreciate that this is taking time, however providing a consistent user experience across M365 that continues to function as expected is a complex problem. We will provide another update within the next few months.

It just appeared out of nowhere on one of my sites. And now can't get rid of it. This is SO BAD. Need it to be bye bye right now.
