We are continuing to validate this long-awaited feature in a Private Preview Program with a subset of customers. Although feedback has been very positive we have identified a few things that we still need to address before we start making this more generally available. We appreciate that this is taking time, however providing a consistent user experience across M365 that continues to function as expected is a complex problem. We will provide another update within the next few months.

Site owners can organize news posts for placement in news web parts today. This capability was added to meet the need of “pushing” older content to the top, or ensuring a particular news post stays in place while other news posts automatically feed into the system. This works in all layouts, and news source configurations. We’re working on scheduling posts/pages for publication right now, but it likely won’t include an “expiration” date at launch as newer content naturally pushes out older content (that isn’t placed in a specific news slot). If this doesn’t meet your needs, we’d love to better understand the scenarios that require expiration dates. Thanks

Definitely agree better control is needed at the Hub Site level. As noted in previous comments some news posts can rise higher in the list based on their newer date. Also, have noted setting expiry dates on the spoke site news post is not respected at the hub-site. This would help manage content as well.

Calendar integration between Outlook/Exchange/SharePoint really needs to take a few leaps forward. People want to be able to see time and resources (where, what and who) and one of the key places that's done is in a calendar. If SharePoint/Outlook/O365 can provide better integration and options I think this would leap the platform ahead. As noted by others, there are other solutions and platforms that have much better calendar integration. :-)

Yes, this needs to be a selectable default option. Having users be able to generate links to others with no possibility of administrative control doesn't make much sense. We need to be able to do this so that users don't knowingly or unknowingly send out links they shouldn't based on IT or Corporate policies.
