Providing the ability to scale from renaming individual sites, to all sites within a SharePoint tenant, while ensuring a consistent user experience across M365 is a complex problem. We have been working hard on this long-awaited feature and are currently validating this with a subset of customers in a closed (no longer accepting nominations) Private Preview Program. As we consolidate their feedback, we will provide another update in the next few months.

@James Nicholas - That's not what is rolling out. They are rolling out the ability to rename a URL, not the tenant.

    From the roadmap site:

In the SharePoint admin center you will be able to change site URLs by renaming them. So for example, if you have a site https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/Develpment, using the SharePoint admin center you can rename the site URL to correct the incorrect spelling of “Development."

Not a peep. At least not renaming a tenant.

I suspect any news now has to wait for November to make a big splash at Ignite, rather than solving our problems now if/when the solution is ready.

Yeah for a while it seemed that MS got out of the big wiz bang releases, where you had to wait for Ignite or whatever, and now they are sliding back into that. If it's done, release it. We have work to do, we don't care if you need to wow a few thousand people... they aren't there for that anyway, they are there to learn things and/or party.

The Open in Browser might get it into Acrobat, but if you do something like annotate and then save it, it doesn’t save back to SharePoint. It wants save to your Adobe Cloud or local drive. Unusable. I spoke to both MS and Adobe at Ignite last year and both were clueless about it being a problem. Do they even use their own stuff?

The silly thing is that at the 2018 Ignite Conference, Nadella has Adobe on stage with him at the keynote, talking about their partnership. Yet I spoke to people at the Adobe booth about this and they were clueless that it was an issue... as were the people in the MS booths sadly.

Funny, Nadella touts the MS-Adobe partnership on stage at Ignite, but SPO can't even use Acrobat any more. I even stopped by the Adobe booth at Ignite and asked them about it, and they had no idea what I was talking about, then tried to sell me on their Sign product... LOL.

The mapping with shortcuts via OneDrive doesn't always work because many times it exceeds the ~240 character path/filename limit in most Windows apps.

Agreed. It's silly that you can't. You have to create hidden fields and a workflow to copy the lookup value into the into the field so you can total on it. Very wasteful.

The sad thing is that we used to have it, in SP 2007. I question whether anyone at MS actually uses SharePoint.

We are continuing to make our large list experiences better, please keep the feedback coming.

    Spring 2018 update:
    - We now support being able to manually add indexes to lists of any size (increased from lists up to 20,000 items previously).
    - Starting with the February release of the Office 365 Excel client, you will be able to export your full list instead of getting cut off part of the way through.

What we are working on now:
    - Predictive indexing will start to work for lists larger than 20,000 items so your views will automatically cause the right indexes to be added to your lists.

    In our backlog:
    - Being able to index/sort/filter by lookup column types (like person, lookup or managed metadata columns) without being throttled.
    - Making sure that our REST APIs support querying in ways that will guarantee that the call will not be throttled.

    For…
