Thank you for everyone’s feedback around the use of white space on modern pages. We are continually looking for ways to refine our designs and the use of white space is an important part of this. While the custom control of sections or the custom control of columns is not likely to happen, there could be other optimizations we will be thinking about in the future. Thank you.

Tracy: Are you suggesting that List and Library Web Parts on Modern Pages should be able to appear in non-default Views? If so, I couldn't agree more. I have a list of related events that I want to post twice on the same page: Once to include upcoming events, and a second time to include past events. The Modern Page's List and Library Web Parts cannot handle that (unlike Classic). If I'm understanding you correctly, this needs a zillion more upvotes. - tom

Microsoft needs to reconsider the ill-advised decision to enforce "Recent" and "Pages" links in Quick Launch and Current Navigation. What was MS thinking? The classic-page workaround is to use audience targeting with a group that contains nobody (I create _Nobody groups in every collection by default these days, just for this purpose). However, that workaround doesn't work on a Modern Page. So, for the love of sanity, eliminate this 'feature' or at least give users the ability (per this suggestion) to disable it, ideally across an entire tenancy or, barring that, each collection.

I just noticed that this request is being addressed by Microsoft per another request. See https://sharepoint.uservoice.com/forums/329214-sites-and-collaboration/suggestions/15255873-optimize-access-request-settings-for-site-owners

I'm moving my vote over there...

Agree fully with Eric. The whole access request process needs attention. We use it only so end users can request access, and instead do all permissions via the Site Permissions page (/_layouts/15/user.aspx). That creates a mess of pending requests and external-user invitations on the Access Requests page (/Access%20Requests/pendingreq.aspx) that we just leave alone to expire (accepting them would often put users in the wrong groups; declining them would send the wrong message because we are actually 'accepting' them by granting access via the Site Permissions page.

I'd love to know if/when Microsoft decides to prioritize this, as I could provide a number of real-world problems with the current interface and at least an equal number of solutions that would make it useful for end users, including site owners.
