We have started modernizing the search results page a few years ago. It is available on every site under this URL: /_layouts/15/search.aspx/siteall?q=myquery. Also the new search box placed in the suite header has started rolling out to modern experiences, and will be available broadly by end of June. We will be making it available to classic sites later this year as well. Some customers redirect their classic search boxes to the modern results page already.
The modern search experience is a part of the overall Microsoft Search experiences. See more details in this post: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Search-Blog/Welcome-to-Microsoft-Search-intelligent-search-for-the-modern/ba-p/531156. We will be bringing additional improvements to it later in 2019, and early 2020 as well including custom refiners, verticals, result types with modern display templates, as well as custom pages that can use modern web parts.

Thank you for the feedback! We are not planning on adding support recurring events at this time but we will keep it in mind in the future when we look at improving the overall event story on SharePoint.

Ability to group by category and control display format would be amazing - and is very needed!

We are planning to provide a path selection mechanism in the new admin center, but until then we’ll look to at least amend the PowerShell (note that you can already set the path using PnP PowerShell – specifically, the New-PnPTenantSite cmdlet).

We’ve reduced the height of the hero web part when in full width columns, but still maintain as much of the aspect ratio as possible. On a very large monitor this can still make the hero quite tall. Authors could also drag hero our of the full width column, into a one column layout (with gutters) , which significantly reduces the height. How would you imagine it should work differently in the full width, or is moving to a one column layout the right choice for reduced height? Thanks!

Thank you for everyone’s feedback. We are not planning on adding support for event registration at this time but we will keep it in mind in the future when we look at improving the overall event story on SharePoint.

Yes, we just ran an event and although team members liked the ease of the "Add to Calendar" feature, as the event organizer, I found that not being able to see who has registered a big drawback to using the Events feature. Would be great to see a registration list and also the ability to limit capacity.

This is stopping us from moving from Classic to Modern (UI) sites in many cases - as has been mentioned, users don't realize they need to fill out document properties and it is many clicks to get around in the information panel. This has become a cumbersome process. The current process is a large step backwards from previous functionality - and end users are not happy with the user experience in adding metadata.

This would be great - search templates in classic SharePoint worked very well - would be nice to see this in modern SharePoint Home Search.
