    One workaround to this is to go over the SharePoint Designer and create new classic edit, new and display forms for that Library/Content type.
    Then on each of this new pages implement the new SPFx app (Theme will not be passed to the SPFx App) Or put a redirect from this new forms to a new modern page changing the ?ID= parameter to another name as it will interfere with the library ID.

    Please stop making us use bulky workarounds. PowerApps already have this feature rolling out.

    There is a rest API for this. But it doesn't work if you set a group as Owner. Only users. Which is mostly useless.

    (thanks to KEMiCZA for this info)

    import { SPHttpClient } from '@pnp/sp';
    (async () => {
    const siteObj = await sp.web.select('Url').get();
    const endpoint = siteObj.Url + `/_api/web/sitegroups/getByName('GrouName')/SetUserAsOwner(10)`;
    const client = new SPHttpClient();
    const response = await client.post(endpoint, {
    headers: {
    'Accept': 'application/json',
    'Content-Type': 'application/json',
    },
    })
    const result = await response.json();
    })()

    We are continuing to make our large list experiences better, please keep the feedback coming.

    Spring 2018 update:
    - We now support being able to manually add indexes to lists of any size (increased from lists up to 20,000 items previously).
    - Starting with the February release of the Office 365 Excel client, you will be able to export your full list instead of getting cut off part of the way through.

    What we are working on now:
    - Predictive indexing will start to work for lists larger than 20,000 items so your views will automatically cause the right indexes to be added to your lists.

    In our backlog:
    - Being able to index/sort/filter by lookup column types (like person, lookup or managed metadata columns) without being throttled.
    - Making sure that our REST APIs support querying in ways that will guarantee that the call will not be throttled.

    For…

    Also, "Connect to new Office 365 group" is not explicit and be misleading.

    Connect involves two objects.
    New means that it will create a new objecto to connect to.
    What happens is that the site collection is transformed into a Office 365 group and you can't get it back to a normal team site.
