Modern filter functionality is also causing a lot of problems for us. When users click on the name of a group/tag in a library, it filters it in Modern to only see the files with that tag - beautiful! But then they click back to the default level of the library and the view is not showing all the documents, it's some kind of bug. Maybe there will be some groups there, some files, but not all. It can be resolved by refreshing the page or clicking the "All documents" view - but these are both workarounds. The actual way the libraries are designed to work is not working.

I'll add my comment here since my issue is a subset of inconsistent UX for Modern libraries when it comes to drag/drop tagging. Drag/drop tagging works great for dropping into the primary group in a library and the UX makes sense (there's a gray box around the group you're dropping into and little tags appear in the far left column), but dropping into a secondary group has no UX at all - there is no gray box, and there are no tags, in fact users would have no way of knowing that they are not just uploading a file to the library but also tagging it twice (once on the primary group and again on the secondary). Oddly, drag/drop tagging does actually work in Modern, but from a UX there's no indication that this feature is even available.

In modern pages, we open links within SharePoint in the same tab by default, and external links in a new tab. In the text web part, users can specify to open links in a new tab, but that isn’t the default behavior. Similarly, for navigation links, they follow the same rule (within SharePoint, same tab, external to SharePoint in a new tab). This is true of the modern web parts that support linking as well (hero, quick links, images, etc.) This is the pattern we’ve adopted for consistency.

After reviewing other areas of modern sites, like the site pages library, document libraries, lists, site contents, etc. we did find some different opening behaviors which we’ll review and resolve.

Can you help us understand if this pattern isn’t meeting your expectation, if we have some inconsistencies within modern pages we’ve missed, or if it’s the other areas of modern sites where…
