We’re actually working on it already; sorry for the double update.

We aren’t currently working on adding recurring events support to the Events web part. As a number of commentors have suggested, Group calendars do a great job with recurring events and are a great way to show them on your modern pages.

Group calendars would be nice if all of my users were part of O365 groups, but... they are not. I have also experienced a lot of strange behavior with the group calendar web part where it prompts repeatedly for login or just doesn't load at all, therefore I cannot recommend it to my users. The group calendar web part and events web part are equally disliked by my users, and I suspect it will remain that way until they can have a calendar on their page that correctly handles recurring events, instead of having them last forever. Seriously, the modern calendar view displays recurring events instead as ongoing for over 5000 days (seemingly ignoring the end date/time completely). The only option we have right now is a jarring experience with a link to the classic SharePoint calendar.

Thanks for asking for this capability. This isn’t in our current plans. We suggest using the Group Calendar functionality for great Microsoft Exchange backed features like recurring events.

Just ran into this today. Having a user send it to their own inbox and then forward it is not a great experience, and it would be much better if they could set the subject line while creating the news digest.

We’re actively thinking about how we can better support the desire for a great looking, responsive, wall calendar view. As we solidify our thoughts, we’ll share more.

Thank you for everyone’s feedback. We are not planning on adding support for event registration at this time but we will keep it in mind in the future when we look at improving the overall event story on SharePoint.

Thank you for everyone’s feedback around the use of white space on modern pages. We are continually looking for ways to refine our designs and the use of white space is an important part of this. While the custom control of sections or the custom control of columns is not likely to happen, there could be other optimizations we will be thinking about in the future. Thank you.

We initially didn’t enable the full width column on team sites due to the vertical navigation on the left and left justification of team site pages. How do you imagine it should work/look on those pages?

Color coding would be really great, especially for calendars views that are added to lists created from the "content scheduler" template. Multiple types of content are published, and color coding would make it far easier for my users to tell what's what, especially when content is published by separate teams, but tracked in one place. Products with similar uses (Wrike, Google calendars) already do this, so it's difficult to get my users to consolidate to using one platform when things like this are missing.
