If MS could open all documents in a new window, I'd be happy. I can't tell you how many non savy computer users click a link to open a PDF, read the PDF, close the PDF and then have lost the site simply because the PDF loaded in the same window as the site. Yes, opening in client application would be the way to go, but what about the fact that not everyone has Acrobat or reader installed. Chrome and Firefox have built in PDF readers. This makes things so frustrating for developers.

As a work around, I did find that I could use javascript to force links ending in ".pdf" into a new window. That worked everywhere on the page except in document libraries as MS forces the documents to load in the same window. I don't understand their thinking except that PDF documents are not MS's concern since it's not their format.

You would need to talk to the team that built and maintains the PDF plugin for chrome as they control the features that work or don't. I know that you used to be able to change which PDF plug-in was used and I prefer the adobe reader plug-in, but the chrome team disabled the settings page where this could be changed.

I too dislike having to tell 127 parishes that the list they have been told to use to get forms will not be available for a week. What's worse is that if I don't get the audience settings exactly right and end up leaving out some users, I have no way to know this till the audience compiles and then have to tell them to wait a week after telling them to wait a week.

Part of the problem is that the network admin sets up users and creates the AD groups. I, as the webmaster, create the audiences based upon those group memberships. If we are not on the same page...

I would like to see a more frequent compilation, maybe nightly or a way to do an on-demand compilation.

I use the HTML Forms web part for HTML, CSS, & JavaScript. It does what I need. If I need to link a .js file, I use a Content Editor web part.

The problem is that the source editor for the HTML Forms web part only opens in IE.

I have a hack that I used to use when I was running SP 2010. I would open the calendar list in Access. This way I could copy and paste an existing event as another event and change the date of occurrence. Sometimes events have sessions on multiple days that all need to be added. or the event simply occurs on 2 separate days.

Moving to SPO, I have found that when doing this, the description field is locked in the new record and not editable except through the SP site. That makes this hack useless as I still have to edit the event on the site.
