Agreed, the ability to easily move or copy a document set should be basic functionality. Some of the same/main reasons to use a flat architecture, to provide ease of mobility as things progress and change.

I agree totally, we need to be able to associate hub sites to each other. I have the same problem as stated by others, I need to be able to associate department hub sites to our intranet Home page site, making it the total parent hub site. This would allow searching across all sites from "Home" and preserve searching from a department Hub site to just the sites associated with that department.

In modern pages, we open links within SharePoint in the same tab by default, and external links in a new tab. In the text web part, users can specify to open links in a new tab, but that isn’t the default behavior. Similarly, for navigation links, they follow the same rule (within SharePoint, same tab, external to SharePoint in a new tab). This is true of the modern web parts that support linking as well (hero, quick links, images, etc.) This is the pattern we’ve adopted for consistency.

After reviewing other areas of modern sites, like the site pages library, document libraries, lists, site contents, etc. we did find some different opening behaviors which we’ll review and resolve.

Can you help us understand if this pattern isn’t meeting your expectation, if we have some inconsistencies within modern pages we’ve missed, or if it’s the other areas of modern sites where…

Any update on this? We are trying to implement SharePoint online and this new tab thing is totally killing our user adoption, they are like, fix it or I am not using it.

We are just starting to implement SharePoint Online, this automatic new tab thing is not helping to win users over to SharePoint. New users end up with way too many tabs open, don't know where they are at or which to go to, get frustrated and quit. This needs to get fixed!!
