Today an image occupies the width of the container it’s in (e.g. 1/3 column). Assuming you could make your image smaller than the column width, what level of alignment would you want? Is left, right, center sufficient, or are you wanting vertical alignment in the negative space around the image (e.g. top, middle, bottom)? What would you expect happens to the space on different break points (e.g. iPad, mobile phone, etc.) Does it go away, or is it somehow retained? Thanks.

In line with what was said above, when I create news posts in SharePoint, the thumbnails often wind up getting displayed in what seems to be arbitrary positions. There is a button in SharePoint online to allow some limited panning but it often doesn't give me enough flexibility. In addition to being able to pan with greater freedom, I also need the ability to zoom in and out of the thumbnails. When I exceed the boundaries of the thumbnail images, it might be potentially useful if some sort of interpolation or transparency could be used to allow me to go outside those boundaries so positioning could be more precise.
