Until recently we were able to get around this by taking advantage of user search preference settings. This option was removed by Microsoft recently and our users don't appreciate having to open in on-line and then re-open in desktop applications. Desktop applications are used by our staff as the online versions are not yet able to provide all the required functionality (track changes, advanced formatting.....). This is a step backwards for our users and adds confusion when documents opened from libraries and views are opening directly in the application. Bring back the functionality to set user preferences to open search results in the client application!!!

We’re actively thinking about how we can better support the desire for a great looking, responsive, wall calendar view. As we solidify our thoughts, we’ll share more.

Thanks for the suggestion. While this can accomplished via PnP Powershell today, we understand the desire to have a way to do it in the UX. We’ll add it to our backlog.

We are continuing to make our large list experiences better, please keep the feedback coming.
Spring 2018 update:
- We now support being able to manually add indexes to lists of any size (increased from lists up to 20,000 items previously).
- Starting with the February release of the Office 365 Excel client, you will be able to export your full list instead of getting cut off part of the way through. What we are working on now:
- Predictive indexing will start to work for lists larger than 20,000 items so your views will automatically cause the right indexes to be added to your lists. In our backlog:
- Being able to index/sort/filter by lookup column types (like person, lookup or managed metadata columns) without being throttled.
- Making sure that our REST APIs support querying in ways that will guarantee that the call will not be throttled. For…

This issue NEEDS to be addressed. Users need to be able to edit PDF's (annotate etc.) and save directly to SharePoint Online without downloading. We have several processes set up with non-technical users and having no workaround after IE is deprecated is NOT a good answer. We have been able to limp around using IE, but come August if we have new Board Members/Employees this will no longer be a solution. HELP!!!!!!!
PS-- I have been communicating this need since Edge was released - as you can see from the comments THIS IS IMPORTANT --
