Not only is this an issue for URLs but for standard comments being able to be larger than 255 characters.
For instance when using MS Forms a text box can contain some thousands of characters. When imported to a Sharepoint single line text the form submission is rejected when this is greater than 255 characters.
This I feel is restrictive in the extreme. Please change this as soon as possible.
